Actor Moon Seung-yu has significantly heightened the dramatic tension in tvN's 'The Tyrant's Chef' with his nuanced emotional portrayal in episode 8.

Appearing as Abi-su, a chef from the Ming Dynasty, in the episode aired on the 14th, Moon Seung-yu participated in a culinary competition between Joseon and Ming. He captivated viewers by balancing a dynamic cooking performance with a tearful scene, persuasively conveying Abi-su's complex narrative and adding depth to the character.

As the first contestant in the cook-off, Abi-su presented 'Gongbogejeong,' a Sichuan dish, under the theme of 'a meat dish the world has never seen,' showcasing his intense competitive spirit. However, his secret ingredient, 'Layu' (chili oil), was revealed to be made from chili powder prepared by the Joseon chefs, leading to a crisis. He was rebuked by his superior, Dang Baek-ryong (Jo Jae-yoon), for his culinary integrity and shed tears. Yet, he demonstrated growth by admitting his mistake and apologizing to Yeon Ji-young (Im Yoon-ah).

Moon Seung-yu first appeared as Abi-su in episode 5, quickly drawing audience attention. Following his initial imposing presence, where he challenged Joseon chefs with martial arts and cooking, he has since brought vitality to the drama by portraying Abi-su's realization of his faults and subsequent growth as a Ming chef.

'The Tyrant's Chef' airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 PM KST on tvN.

Moon Seung-yu debuted in 2018 with the short films 'Black Flower' and 'Button.' He has since showcased a wide acting range across various genres in dramas like KBS1's 'Love to the End of the World,' MBC's 'Golden Spoon,' KBS2's 'My Heart Is Beating,' and MBC's 'Flowers Bloom at Night.' He continues to build his recognition by embodying diverse characters with remarkable skill.
