Shortbox's Lim Woo-il and Jo Jin-se Recall 'Life Transformation' Moments on 'Let's Go!'
Comedians Lim Woo-il and Jo Jin-se reminisced about their life-changing moments through their YouTube channel 'Shortbox,' sharing mutual support and deep friendship.
The final episode of MBN's 'Let's Go!' Season 5, aired on the 20th, featured the popular YouTubers from 'Shortbox,' boasting 3.5 million subscribers, Lim Woo-il and Jo Jin-se, bringing laughter and a fitting conclusion to the season.
MCs Ahn Jung-hwan and Hong Hyun-hee were invited to the home of Lim Woo-il, famously known as 'Hongdae Terius.' To their surprise, Lim Woo-il's residence featured a cool air conditioner and luxurious furniture, uncharacteristic of his 'frugal' reputation. However, the sudden appearance of comedian Jo Jin-se revealed that the host was not Lim Woo-il, but Jo Jin-se himself, adding a humorous twist.
When Hong Hyun-hee inquired about their close relationship, Jo Jin-se expressed his gratitude, stating, "Senior Lim Woo-il took care of me even before I became successful. When I was struggling financially after 'Gag Concert' ended, he suggested, 'Want to try YouTube together?' If not for that proposal, the 'Shortbox' channel wouldn't exist."
As the MCs toured the house, they marveled at the custom interior designed for cats, commenting, "The whole house seems to be a space for cats," and "The cats must be truly happy."
Addressing Hong Hyun-hee's question about 'Shortbox's' sudden success, Jo Jin-se explained, "We originally ran a different channel, but it wasn't doing well, so we decided to try a new channel, thinking, 'Let's just do it for six months and then quit.' However, it became successful within two to three months, with our video 'Long-Term Relationships.'" He confessed, "Our usual views were around 200-300, but the day after uploading 'Long-Term Relationships,' it hit 80,000 views," proudly showing off the Gold Button award.
Ahn Jung-hwan encouraged them, saying, "I hope you reach the Diamond Button (10 million subscribers) too."
Regarding income distribution and maximum earnings, Jo Jin-se stated, "It's always a 1/N split," revealing a significant amount that left the MCs astonished. When asked about his parents' reactions during his difficult times, he replied, "They worried a lot, but they always supported me."
In response to Hong Hyun-hee's question about extreme measures taken for YouTube success, Jo Jin-se revealed, "Do you know the hydraulic press videos? I tried it with my chin. I used a watermelon, and the views were really good," shocking everyone. He even demonstrated the hydraulic press action on the spot, impressing the MCs with his professionalism.
Finally, Jo Jin-se humorously told Lim Woo-il, "You've worked hard and are doing well, so I hope you continue to maintain this channel. But please, come over to my house less often now." Lim Woo-il retorted, "I'll try to visit less, but please don't change the house password!" ensuring laughter until the very end.
