Yuqi, a member of the group (G)I-DLE, has made her comeback as a solo artist after a hiatus of one year and five months. Her new album, titled 'Motivation,' signifies drive, desire, and stimulus. The title track, 'M.O.', is rooted in the 1990s hip-hop genre.

'M.O.' stands for 'Modus Operandi,' conveying Yuqi's bold message of seeing through an opponent's hidden intentions and true objectives. This aligns with the charismatic image she has showcased in (G)I-DLE's music while highlighting her unique artistic identity.

The album clearly demonstrates Yuqi's musical growth. While her first solo album, 'GIANT,' conveyed the will to overcome scars and fears, this new release evolves into a direct approach of navigating through absurd situations by understanding others' intentions. The album is a testament to Yuqi's growing talent, having actively participated in songwriting and composing since her debut.

Yuqi shared, "I wanted to give a gift to my fans, so I worked on this album," adding, "Since 'M.O.' is a hip-hop track, I focused on lyrics and melody to give it a hip vibe." The music video evokes nostalgia for the 1990s, featuring vintage hair salons, offices, and surreal spaces.

The included track, 'Sadness' (Chinese title: '还痛吗' - Hái tòng ma), is an emotional rock ballad that reveals Yuqi's mature side. Collaborating with rising Chinese star Wang Anyu, the song delicately portrays the process of a loving couple's argument and separation, followed by the overwhelming sadness and loneliness. The emotional progression is as distinct as watching a short film.

Yuqi further commented, "I wanted to genuinely express precarious emotions in 'Sadness'," and expressed curiosity about the reception of her first acting endeavor.

Beyond her group activities, Yuqi consistently pursues solo music projects, with this album marking a significant expansion of her musical horizons. Her venture into acting with the track 'Sadness' further showcases her versatility as an artist.
