SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Scorpion: The Killer's Outing' has successfully kicked off to rave reviews right from its premiere. Viewers are captivated by the performance of Jang Dong-yoon, who plays Cha Soo-yeol, a detective and the son of serial killer 'The Scorpion', played by Go Hyun-jung.

In the first episode, which aired on the 5th, the story began 23 years after the capture of 'The Scorpion', identified as Jung Yi-shin, when a copycat murder case emerged. Cha Soo-yeol, now a detective, reunites with his mother, Jung Yi-shin, whom he has despised his entire life, after 23 years to solve the case. The tension escalates as they begin a joint investigation, navigating the complex relationship between a serial killer mother and her detective son. A single, cryptic remark from Jung Yi-shin provides Cha Soo-yeol with a crucial clue, and her inscrutable smile creates a powerful cliffhanger ending.

Ahead of the second episode airing on the 6th, the drama's production team released still images capturing a pivotal moment from Cha Soo-yeol's past that led him to become a police officer. The released photos show a younger, school-uniform-clad Cha Soo-yeol, exuding a different aura from his current self. A scar and bandage on his face, coupled with a look of complex sadness and defiance, spark curiosity about his past. Meanwhile, Choi Joong-ho (played by Cho Sung-ha) offers Cha Soo-yeol a warm, paternal smile, creating a comforting atmosphere.

The production team of 'The Scorpion: The Killer's Outing' stated, "The second episode airing today will reveal the true reason why Cha Soo-yeol became a detective. This will significantly impact his reunion with his mother, Jung Yi-shin, and their pursuit of the copycat killer." They added, "We ask for your keen interest and anticipation for the passionate performances of actors Jang Dong-yoon and Cho Sung-ha, who deeply portray the character's complex emotions across different timelines."

Jang Dong-yoon debuted in 2016 with the web drama 'Women at a Game Company'. He quickly gained attention for his handsome looks and stable acting, subsequently appearing in various productions such as 'Fight for My Way', 'Mr. Temporary', and 'The Tale of Nokdu'. Notably, he expanded his acting range by perfectly portraying a cross-dressing character in 'The Tale of Nokdu'.
