Volleyball icon Kim Yeon-koung is returning to the court, not as a player, but as a director. MBC's new variety show, 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung,' set to premiere on the 28th, has ignited anticipation by unveiling its cast of seven key players and a second poster.

The project aims to provide a fresh opportunity for athletes who have been released from professional teams, aspire to enter the pro league from corporate teams, or wish to make a comeback after retirement. The team, aptly named 'Fighting Wonderdogs,' embodies the spirit of 'underdogs' transforming into 'wonders.' The lineup features a diverse array of talents, including former national player Pyo Seung-ju, promising setter Lee Jin, one-club veteran Kim Na-hee, comeback player Lee Na-yeon, Mongolian player Inkuci, Go Sol who has faced two releases, and Yoon Young-in, known as the 'Queen of Corporate Leagues.'

Notable additions include Pyo Seung-ju, who was set to retire after not being re-signed in the FA market, and Lee Jin, once a rising star for IBK Altos, and Kim Na-hee, who played 17 seasons with Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders. The inclusion of Lee Na-yeon, who previously retired due to injury, and Inkuci, an aspiring Mongolian player pursuing her dreams in Korea, adds an exciting dynamic. Go Sol, having been released twice in the V-League, and Yoon Young-in, a dominant force in the corporate league for seven years, are also looking for a fresh start under Kim Yeon-koung's guidance.

The newly released second poster showcases Kim Yeon-koung facing off against the players across the court, creating a striking image. The show promises to delve into how these athletes were selected through tryouts and the teamwork they will develop. Viewers are eagerly awaiting the journey of the 'Fighting Wonderdogs' as they aim to rise from 'underdogs' to 'wonders' under the direction of 'Rookie Director' Kim Yeon-koung.

'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung' is produced with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Agency (KCA) and will air every Sunday at 9:10 PM, starting May 28th on MBC.

Kim Yeon-koung is widely regarded as one of the greatest volleyball players of all time, earning the nickname 'Volleyball Empress.' She served as the flag bearer for the South Korean delegation at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and continues to be a beloved figure in the sport. This variety show marks her exciting transition into a directorial role, capturing the interest of fans worldwide.
