YouTuber Daedoo Library's Death Sparks Conspiracy Theories; 'Garo Sero Institute' Faces Defamation Lawsuit
Kim Se-ui, CEO of the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute,' has been reported to the police by the Democratic Party of Korea for spreading conspiracy theories linking President Lee Jae-myung to the death of YouTuber Daedoo Library (real name Na Dong-hyun).
The Democratic Party's National Communication Committee filed a complaint on March 9th, accusing 'Garo Sero Institute' of disseminating false information and defamation. The channel had previously released a video on March 6th titled '[Shocking Horror] Daedoo Library's Death Mystery (Lee Jae-myung, Yumjung),' which depicted President Lee Jae-myung's face between images of Daedoo Library and his ex-wife, YouTuber Yumjung (real name Lee Chae-won), raising unsubstantiated suspicions.
In the video, Kim Se-ui questioned why many people around Lee Jae-myung tend to die under mysterious circumstances, calling it "truly strange." The video has since been deleted. The Democratic Party stated that the channel, with its over one million subscribers, has significant influence and that the video's 150,000 views indicate a considerable social impact. They condemned the act as malicious defamation aimed at politically harming President Lee, and expressed deep regret over the disrespect shown to the deceased and the grief of the bereaved family. Daedoo Library was found deceased at his home on March 6th, and his ex-wife Yumjung later revealed that an autopsy determined the cause of death to be a brain hemorrhage.
Daedoo Library, whose real name is Na Dong-hyun, was a prominent figure in the Korean YouTube community, known for his engaging content. He gained a large following for his live streams and interactions with fans. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his unique humor and ability to connect with a diverse audience.
