Song Joong-ki Reflects on 'Boring Model Student' Days, Reveals Reason for Rebellion in College

Actor Song Joong-ki candidly shared his experiences from his school days.

On the YouTube channel ‘Narae Sik’ on the 10th, actors Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee, who are starring in the JTBC weekend drama ‘My Youth’, appeared for a talk session. When asked by host Park Na-rae if they were model students, having been student council president and vice-president, Song Joong-ki confessed, "I was a complete model student. A boring model student."

Responding to Park Na-rae's comment about girls from a nearby high school flocking to see him, Song Joong-ki mentioned, "My friends told me things like that, but I didn't really realize it at the time. I was genuinely a student who only studied, a boring student." Chun Woo-hee agreed, stating, "Popular people don't know they're popular," with Park Na-rae adding, "Only those around them know."

Song Joong-ki then revealed, "Perhaps because I had a boring school life, I wanted to rebel when I went to university, and I did rebel." He continued, "I put aside school and studying, and I just lost all my energy." He further explained, "I got academic warnings, and the desire to 'live doing what I want to do' grew. I started my acting career while contemplating what I truly wanted to do."

Born in 1985, Song Joong-ki debuted in the 2008 film 'A Frozen Flower'. He has gained widespread popularity both domestically and internationally for his roles in hit dramas such as 'Descendants of the Sun', 'Vincenzo', and 'Reborn Rich'. He is currently married to Katy Louise Saunders, and they have a son together.
