Milla Jovovich Expresses Excitement on Return to Busan: "Grateful for Korean Journalists' In-depth Questions"
Hollywood action star Milla Jovovich has expressed her delight at returning to South Korea for the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
At a press conference held on the afternoon of the 18th at the Busan Cinema Center for 'Returners,' an official selection in the Midnight Passion section of the 30th BIFF, Jovovich and director Adrian Grunberg met with domestic media.
The film 'Returners' follows Nikki Halstead (Milla Jovovich), a former U.S. special forces operative, as she embarks on a relentless 72-hour chase to find her daughter Chloe, who has been kidnapped by a criminal organization.
Jovovich kicked off the press event by personally selecting and playing music she composed for the film, explaining it was a track featured in a scene where a character enters a hardware store. She felt it perfectly captured the movie's atmosphere and wanted to share it with the Korean press.
Recalling her previous visit to Seoul in 2017 for the promotion of 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,' Jovovich shared fond memories of the warm reception from Korean fans and exploring the city with her husband. She humorously noted that her current gluten-free diet would prevent her from enjoying the pies that fans so generously offered her last time.
Expressing her honor at attending the opening ceremony and meeting fellow esteemed actors, Jovovich stated that premiering 'Returners' in Busan, a first globally, felt like a dream come true. Director Grunberg, visiting Korea and Busan for the first time from Mexico, shared his admiration for the film 'Train to Busan.'
Jovovich was particularly impressed by the depth of questions from Korean journalists, contrasting it with the repetitive inquiries often encountered during promotions in the U.S. She felt these thoughtful questions allowed for more sincere answers and reflected deeply on her 30-year career in action films, viewing the journalists' work as a form of art.
Milla Jovovich is a globally recognized action star, most famous for her role in the 'Resident Evil' film series. Beyond her acting career, she has also showcased her talents as a music producer. She values family time and has built a happy life with her two daughters and husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson.
