Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon candidly shared his past experience of struggling to operate a Thai buffet restaurant in Yeouido.

Appearing on the MBC variety show 'Home Alone' (Guhae Jwo Homez), Hong Seok-cheon confessed during a food tour that he had once opened a Thai cuisine buffet in Yeouido.

He explained that despite his ambitious start, he faced difficulties due to not understanding the commercial district's characteristics, which differed greatly from Itaewon. Hong Seok-cheon stated, "Yeouido wasn't a place to enjoy leisure like Itaewon. It was a commercial area where speed is key, and the turnover rate was very fast," recounting the situation at the time.

During the broadcast, everyone was surprised by the quick serving speed at a buckwheat noodle restaurant. Hong Seok-cheon also shared his thoughts on MSG usage, mentioning that a dish like naengmyeon might cost more if made without it. Finally, upon realizing he was getting a solo shot, he humorously remarked, "Then it's a success," eliciting laughter from the studio.

Hong Seok-cheon debuted as a broadcaster through MBC in 1995 and is known for his versatile career as an entertainer and entrepreneur. He is beloved for his honest and witty remarks on various variety shows. Furthermore, as a restaurateur, he has demonstrated successful business acumen by operating multiple dining establishments.
