Wanna One Members Express Hope for 10th Anniversary Reunion
Former Wanna One members Lee Dae-hwi and Bae Jin-young have opened up about their hopes for a reunion to mark the group's 10th anniversary.
In a YouTube video released on the 22nd, Lee Dae-hwi shared his feelings about their time as Wanna One. "Since we started our debut, I think we felt affection every day. We knew we were heading towards a farewell, day by day. That was regretful, and for the fans who wanted to see all 11 of us, we didn't know when they'd see us again. We worried about that," he confessed.
The duo revealed that all members are 100% in favor of a reunion. They specifically pointed to Ha Sung-woon as a driving force behind reunion plans, saying, "Hyung (Ha Sung-woon) talks the most. He says, 'Let's all gather,' and helps arrange broadcast appearances, for which we are very grateful."
Regarding the timing, Lee Dae-hwi suggested, "First, everyone has to complete their military service. The time when the older members have all finished their service, before the younger line enlists, is in 2027." Bae Jin-young agreed, "That's when the schedule is free," hinting at a potential reunion in 2027, coinciding with their 10th anniversary.
Lee Dae-hwi expressed caution about discussing the topic publicly: "I'm very careful when talking about this. We can't just make them wait indefinitely. They say what you speak becomes reality, so maybe if we keep talking about it, something will come of it," he conveyed his thoughts towards the fans.
Wanna One was an 11-member project group formed through Mnet's 'Produce 101 Season 2' in 2017 and concluded their activities in January 2019. In 2021, they delivered a special stage at the MAMA awards with 10 members (excluding Lai Kuan-lin), nearing a full group reunion and receiving a warm response from fans.
Lee Dae-hwi served as a main dancer and vocalist during Wanna One's activities. He also possesses excellent songwriting and composing skills, gaining significant popularity with his self-written song 'Spring Breeze' on 'Produce 101 Season 2.' He is currently active as a member of AB6IX.
