Veteran YouTuber 'GreatLibrary' Passes Away, Mourning Continues

The sudden passing of 'GreatLibrary' (real name Na Dong-hyun), a pioneer YouTuber often dubbed the 'Yoo Jae-suk of YouTube,' has sent shockwaves of grief through the online community. Mourning continues on the second day since the funeral home was established, with his younger sister and ex-wife, Yum Yum, by his side for his final farewell.

GreatLibrary was found deceased in his Seoul home on the morning of the 6th, at the age of 46. While police did not find a suicide note at the scene, an autopsy was conducted to determine the exact cause of death, with possibilities of illness being considered. On the 8th, the National Forensic Service announced a preliminary verbal opinion stating, 'There are no signs of foul play,' and the police are awaiting the final autopsy report to confirm the cause of death, leaning towards the possibility of death due to illness.

His younger sister and ex-wife, Yum Yum, with whom he divorced after 8 years, are accompanying him in his final journey. The couple had previously garnered attention when GreatLibrary embraced Yum Yum's son from a previous marriage as his own when they married in 2015. Despite their divorce in 2023, they maintained a close relationship, reportedly akin to friends.

Tributes are pouring in from fellow creators and colleagues who remember the path he forged in online broadcasting and gaming. Kim Sung-hoe, who runs the 'Kim Sung-hoe's G-sikbaekgwa' channel, sent a wreath and expressed gratitude, stating, 'I learned about the world of game broadcasting through you, senior, and dreamed of becoming a game broadcaster.' Harisu, Ahn Young-mi, Seol In-ah, and others from the broadcasting industry have also offered their condolences. Lee Chung-chung, son of designer Lee Sang-bong, and comedian Kim Dae-bum expressed their shock and sorrow.

GreatLibrary's funeral procession is scheduled for 8 AM on the 9th.

The late GreatLibrary, born Na Dong-hyun in 1978, was a prominent figure among the first generation of YouTubers who began their careers in the late 2000s. He gained immense popularity for his game streaming and talk content. He married fellow YouTuber Yum Yum in 2015 but they divorced in 2023.
