Actress Han Ji-eun has found herself embroiled in an unexpected controversy following the broadcast of her pet lizard on a television program.

During her appearance on the MBC variety show 'Omniscient Interfering View' aired on the 6th, Han Ji-eun showcased her daily life, paying meticulous attention to her pet lizard, 'Moni.' She was seen tending to it immediately upon waking, spraying water, and preparing specially made food.

Her manager explained that Moni came to Han Ji-eun through an acquaintance and is believed to be around 4-5 months old. Han Ji-eun also demonstrated her knowledge about reptiles, noting their sensitivity to temperature which often doesn't align with human body heat.

However, shortly after the broadcast, some viewers raised concerns about Moni's emaciated condition. The lizard's gaunt appearance, with its skull structure visible, led to accusations that it was close to starvation.

Netizens expressed their worries through comments, stating, "It's all bones," "She doesn't seem to be taking proper care of it," and "It's shocking to see an animal that looks like it's about to die on TV." Conversely, supportive opinions emerged, with comments like, "I've raised lizards, and it's not an abnormal state," "Due to their nature, lizards can appear thin to the untrained eye," and "It's too hasty to judge from just one scene."

The debate is currently polarized between whether Han Ji-eun's pet-rearing methods constitute animal abuse or if it's a simple misunderstanding.

Han Ji-eun debuted in 2014 with the film 'Miss Granny' and has since appeared in numerous dramas such as '100 Days My Prince,' 'Meow, the Secret Boy,' and '18 Again.' Her charming portrayal in '18 Again' particularly garnered attention. Beyond acting, she has also shown her approachable side through variety show appearances.
