Woozi, a member of the popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN, has officially begun his active-duty military service today, September 15th, stepping away from the stage.

Pledis Entertainment, the group's agency, announced that the enlistment ceremony would be a private event, requesting fans to refrain from attending. They encouraged fans to share their messages of support and farewell for Woozi and fellow member Hoshi on Weverse.

Woozi is the third SEVENTEEN member to commence his mandatory service. Jeonghan began his duty last September as a public service worker due to health reasons, and Wonwoo is also serving as a public service worker after completing basic training.

Leader S.Coups was exempted from service, classified as Grade 5 due to a torn ligament surgery in 2023. Joshua, holding U.S. citizenship, is not subject to the conscription.

Just a day before his enlistment, Woozi made a surprise appearance at SEVENTEEN's WORLD TOUR [NEW_] concert at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. With a freshly shaved head, he appeared in the stands, bringing an emotional moment to the fans, known as Carats, as he prepared for his hiatus.

Meanwhile, fellow member Hoshi is scheduled to enlist on September 16th, marking consecutive enlistments for the group.

Woozi is renowned for his integral role as SEVENTEEN's main producer, contributing significantly to the songwriting and composition of their discography. His unique musicality and dedication have been pivotal in shaping the group's signature sound. Fans are expressing their sadness at his temporary departure from music activities.
