Oh Da-young, the director of the new MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Let's Go to the Moon,' has once again apologized for the controversy surrounding a teaser that allegedly mocked Middle Eastern culture.

The production presentation for 'Let's Go to the Moon' was held on the 16th at MBC in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Director Oh Da-young attended alongside lead actors Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo A-ram, and Kim Young-dae.

Set to premiere on the 19th, 'Let's Go to the Moon' is a hyper-realistic survival drama about three women from humble backgrounds who dive into cryptocurrency investments to make ends meet. The drama is written by Na Yoon-chae and directed by Oh Da-young and Jung Hoon.

Earlier, a teaser video inspired by popular ice cream commercials from the 1980s and 90s drew criticism from some international netizens. The critique suggested that the costumes worn by the main cast, including Ra Mi-ran and Lee Sun-bin, were mocking the culture of a specific region in the Middle East.

Following the backlash, the production team issued an apology last month, admitting to a lack of consideration for other cultures.

At the press conference, Director Oh stated, "There is no room for debate; we should have been more meticulous. It was a situation that called for a posture of reflection."

She further commented, "What I learned from this incident is that while I strived to create a good drama, dramas are no longer just for domestic consumption. We need to refine and cultivate our cognitive sensitivity regarding diverse peoples," she added.

Director Oh Da-young is building anticipation for her next project with 'Let's Go to the Moon.' She has previously been recognized for her delicate directing style. This drama reinforces her commitment to creating content with a global audience in mind.
