LG Uplus' STUDIO X+U, in collaboration with NAVER, is set to premiere its new slate of eight short-form dramas at the upcoming BCWW 2025 (Broadcasting, Content Promotion, and Market) exhibition, taking place from October 16th to 19th at COEX.

These eight short dramas, which will begin releasing sequentially on NAVER TV and Chirp (Chijijik) from September 30th, mark an expansion of STUDIO X+U's content portfolio. Previously recognized for its 'mid-form' drama expertise with titles like 'Hunter with a Scalpel' and 'Night Has Come,' the studio is now catering to the viewing habits of the MZ generation, who prefer fast-paced and intuitive storytelling.

Four of the eight short dramas are adapted from popular NAVER Webtoon intellectual properties that have already garnered significant acclaim. These include 'Shameless Villainess,' 'The Waiting Ghost,' 'Sister's War,' and 'Spurman,' all boasting average ratings exceeding 9.9. 'Spurman,' in particular, is a highly popular series that has run for five seasons, generating considerable anticipation for its drama adaptation.

The remaining four titles are original short dramas produced by STUDIO X+U: 'Suji Suji,' 'Possessed Romance,' 'If We Get Tangled, We Die,' and 'The Bad Thing I Did to My Boss.' These dramas are expected to appeal to both existing webtoon fandoms and new short-form drama viewers with their diverse genres and engaging narratives.

The cast features a mix of familiar faces and rising stars, including Oh Jeong-yeon, Jo Seung-hee, and Kim Hyung-min in 'Suji Suji'; Kang Min-ah and Song Byung-geun in 'Shameless Villainess'; and Jun Jun-ho and Go Woo-ri in 'Spurman,' all contributing to the richness and appeal of these short-form productions.

Lee Deok-jae, Executive Vice President of LG Uplus' STUDIO X+U, stated, "STUDIO X+U, loved by the global MZ generation for its engaging mid-form content, is now breaking conventional molds through its collaboration with NAVER to present short-form dramas with intriguing stories across diverse themes. We aim to evolve into a studio that excels not only in mid-form but also in short-form content."

The studio has established a strong reputation for its mid-form content and is now broadening its horizons with this short-form drama initiative, aligning with contemporary viewing trends.
