Hoshi (real name Kwon Soon-young), the performance team leader and main dancer of global group SEVENTEEN, has officially begun his military service as an active-duty soldier on the 16th, bidding farewell to his fans.

Hoshi will undergo basic military training at an army training center before serving as an active-duty soldier. He becomes the fourth SEVENTEEN member to enlist, following Jeonghan, Wonwoo, and Woozi. His expected discharge date is March 15, 2027.

Prior to his enlistment, Hoshi shared warm messages with his fans through the community platform Weverse. He reassured them, saying, "They say those left behind carry a heavier heart than those who leave. I will serve diligently, so please don't be too sad." He also expressed his hope for the future, stating, "All this time will become a memory, and I'm sure we'll be smiling when we look back."

Expressing his gratitude and love for his fans, Hoshi promised, "I'll come back with a cool soldier's appearance when I get leave." He also wished his fans well.

In a special gesture for his fans, Hoshi released his new solo single 'Take Off' at 6 PM on the day of his enlistment. This hip-hop track, built on a powerful 'lazy' genre, features Hoshi's direct participation in the lyrics, imbuing it with his passion.

Before his enlistment, Hoshi also engaged in meaningful charitable acts. He donated 100 million KRW (approximately $72,000 USD) to the Fruit of Love Northern Gyeonggi branch. These funds will be used for the construction and remodeling of classrooms at Mandla Primary School in Ndola, Zambia. This marks his second major donation, following a similar contribution last year for school facilities in Luang Prabang, Laos.

Hoshi has been cherished by fans for his exceptional performance skills, creative talents, and warm personality as a core member of SEVENTEEN. While fans express sadness over his enlistment, his new music release and charitable activities leave a positive impact as he embarks on this new chapter. Fans eagerly await his return, anticipating a healthier and more mature Hoshi after his approximately two-year military service.

As the main dancer and performance team leader of SEVENTEEN, Hoshi is renowned for his captivating stage presence and powerful choreography. Beyond his intense performances, he is known for his bright and playful personality off-stage, earning him the affectionate nickname 'Hoshi-hyung' or 'Tiger' among fans. In 2020, he successfully debuted as a solo artist with his mixtape 'Spider,' showcasing his versatile musicality.
