Actor Lee Sung-min Recounts Initial Misunderstanding with Director Park Chan-wook: 'Thought He'd Given Up on Me'
Actor Lee Sung-min, appearing on the talk show 'Pinggyego' (Excuses), shared a humorous anecdote from his first collaboration with acclaimed director Park Chan-wook.
In a recently uploaded YouTube video from the 'DdeunDdeun' channel, titled 'The God of Acting is Pinggyego,' Lee Sung-min, alongside fellow actors Lee Byung-hun and Yum Hye-ran, discussed their experiences working on films.
During the conversation, Yum Hye-ran detailed how director Park Chan-wook provided very specific directions, even for moments like exhaling while speaking after lying down. She admitted struggling to perfectly execute these nuanced requests, joking about smoking many cigarettes in the process.
Lee Sung-min empathized, stating, "It's difficult when you receive a director's instruction but can't quite bring it to life." When host Yoo Jae-suk inquired if he had faced similar challenges, Lee Sung-min humorously replied, "I forget everything I'm told at the moment."
He then confessed, with a laugh, "At first, I thought director Park had given up on me because he didn't give me many specific instructions." Lee Byung-hun quickly chimed in, reassuring him, "He's definitely not the type to give up. He must have really liked your acting."
