Actress Shin So-yul recently shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story about how her youthful image almost cost her a role.

In the final episode of MBN's 'Ga-bo-ja GO' Season 5, aired on the 20th, cast members from the drama 'First Lady'—Eugene, Lee Min-young, and Shin So-yul—appeared to share various anecdotes, bringing laughter and a fitting end to the season.

Hosts Ahn Jung-hwan and special MC Jasson were initially taken aback when they received an invitation, thinking it was from a presidential aide. However, they were relieved to learn the invitation was from 'First Lady' co-stars Lee Min-young and Shin So-yul. They were amazed by the realistic sets, which replicated the drama's transition committee office, presidential office, and residence.

Guided by Lee Min-young, Ahn Jung-hwan and Jasson explored the set. They gained deeper insight into the drama's production, from the prop telephone and hidden scripts to the detailed manual elevator and the backdrop simulating an outdoor view, learning about details unknown to viewers.

When Ahn Jung-hwan asked about her role, Shin So-yul candidly replied, “Can I be honest? It wasn't a script I was initially given.” She explained, “The production company told me ‘no’ after I went to meet them upon a suggestion from my agency asking if I’d consider a reporter character.” They apparently felt her image was too young and bright for a news reporter.

However, Shin So-yul was determined. “I got a competitive spirit, met with the director, and read the script,” she shared. “It was the first time in a while I felt like I had truly earned a role.” Hearing this, Lee Min-young praised her, saying, “During the script reading, she seemed like a real reporter. It was truly impressive.”

Lee Min-young and Shin So-yul then revealed their contrasting must-have bags for filming. While Shin So-yul's bag was modest, Lee Min-young arrived with a suitcase, drawing laughter. Lee Min-young’s bag was packed with items like nutritional snacks, supplements, and stretching tools. Shin So-yul, on the other hand, showed off a tumbler, protein snacks, and baking-related items like bread scissors and portioning bags, reflecting her personal tastes.

While they were sharing chicken soup prepared by Lee Min-young for the drama staff, Eugene made a surprise appearance. When Ahn Jung-hwan asked, “What would you do if you were asked for a divorce like in the drama?” Eugene responded, “I’d be bewildered.” She then playfully warned her real husband Ki Tae-young and her on-screen husband, the President-elect (played by Ji Hyun-woo), by asking, “Are you listening? Are you watching?”

Meanwhile, the drama 'First Lady,' which depicts the unprecedented event of a president-elect demanding a divorce from his wife, who is set to become the First Lady, is scheduled to premiere on the 24th.

Shin So-yul debuted in the 2007 film 'The Great Merchant' and has since showcased her distinctive acting in various dramas and movies. She is particularly beloved by fans for her unique friendly and charming image. Recently, in addition to her acting endeavors, she has been captivating audiences with her versatile talents on variety shows.
