Former NMIXX Member Jinni Nearly Overeats Kansho Snacks While Searching for Her Name
Jinni, formerly of the girl group NMIXX, revealed that she almost overindulged in Kansho snacks while trying to find her name on them.
On the 22nd, Jinni posted a photo on her social media account with the caption, 'I almost binge-ate Kansho trying to make my non-existent name.' The photo shows Jinni posing with the popular snacks that have recently caused a sell-out frenzy due to their unique labeling.
However, the name on the snacks wasn't perfectly spelled out on a single piece. Jinni had to combine letters from two separate snacks to form her given name. Lotte Wellfood launched the 'Find My Name' event on the 6th, featuring Kansho snacks with consumer names randomly imprinted. The participatory event runs until November 6th.
The trend has gone viral on social media, especially among teenagers, who are searching for the names of their favorite idols. This has led to a significant increase in sales, with convenience stores reporting sales doubling to tripling compared to previous periods, resulting in stockouts at some locations.
Singer IU also participated in this challenge recently. During a live broadcast on a global fan platform, IU tested whether her real name, 'Ji-eun,' would appear on the snacks. Although she greeted the names she found, she appeared disappointed when her own name didn't show up. Eventually, a staff member presented her with a 'Ji-eun' snack, pieced together from two pieces, to which IU responded with thanks but evident disappointment, remarking that she expected her relatively common name to appear more easily.
Jinni debuted with NMIXX in 2022 but halted activities in March 2023 and terminated her exclusive contract. She is currently communicating with fans through her personal YouTube channel, presenting various content. Expectations are rising among fans for her solo activities.
