Rowoon Unveils Thoughts on 'A Distant Shore' Transformation with Unconventional Visuals
Actor Rowoon has shared his feelings about his dramatic visual transformation for the upcoming Disney+ original historical series 'A Distant Shore' (Takryu).
Attending the press conference for 'A Distant Shore' held at the Eliana Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, on the 23rd, Rowoon expressed his deep affection for his character, Jang Si-yul. He described Si-yul as 'a character who lives hiding his past,' adding, 'He's like a lonely wolf who shouldn't be called by name and has no home to return to.'
Notably, Rowoon sports a markedly different appearance in this series, including a beard. He humorously remarked, 'I was quite surprised myself,' and recalled the director saying, 'I want to take away your greatest weapon: your good looks.' He mentioned he had anticipated such a change.
Rowoon, who enjoyed the makeup process, added, 'I was grateful to be able to show a different side, and it made me think that I could act for a long time to come.' Actor Park Ji-hwan, who worked alongside him as a fellow gangster, affectionately commented on Rowoon's down-to-earth charm, drawing laughter by saying, 'Even though we wore clothes that didn't show dirt and we were tired, Rowoon smelled good.'
Rowoon, a member of the group SF9, debuted in 2016 and has showcased his versatility through concurrent acting endeavors. He has proven his acting prowess by taking on leading roles in numerous dramas such as 'Until I Meet You' and 'The King's Affection.' With his new visual transformation in 'A Distant Shore,' he is raising expectations for his expanding acting spectrum.
