Gianna Jun's agency has vehemently refuted claims that her Chinese endorsement contracts were canceled due to controversy surrounding a line in the Disney+ series 'Tempest'. The agency stated that these reports are "completely groundless."

A representative from Jun's side informed OSEN on September 23rd, "The assertion that Gianna Jun's Chinese advertisements were canceled because of 'Tempest' is entirely without merit."

The agency further clarified that several advertising and event schedules in China had already been postponed prior to the series' airing. "We've confirmed with our local partners in China, and they've also verified that these reports are false. While certain contracts were indeed canceled after multiple delays, the reason cited at the time was related to local circumstances, not the drama," the representative explained.

The controversy originated from a line spoken by Jun's character, Seo Mun-joo, in 'Tempest': "Why does China favor war? A nuclear bomb could fall on the border." This dialogue triggered significant backlash from Chinese viewers, leading some online users to call for a boycott. Subsequently, speculation arose that her endorsement deals for cosmetics and watches had been terminated.

'Tempest' follows Seo Mun-joo, a distinguished UN ambassador, as she investigates the mastermind behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. She collaborates with San-ho (played by Kang Dong-won), a stateless special agent, to expose a conspiracy threatening the Korean peninsula.

Gianna Jun, a prominent South Korean actress, has long been a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, known for her captivating roles in numerous hit films and dramas. Her signature blend of elegance and charisma has earned her a massive following both domestically and internationally. She is also highly sought after for endorsements, often becoming the face of luxury brands and major corporations.
