Uhm Jung-hwa on Reuniting with Song Seung-heon After 10 Years: 'His Looks Haven't Changed, His Heart is Warmer'
Actress Uhm Jung-hwa shared her thoughts on reuniting with actor Song Seung-heon a decade after their last project.
In an interview on the 23rd, following the conclusion of the Genie TV original drama ‘Starstruck’ (literal translation), Uhm Jung-hwa discussed her chemistry with Song Seung-heon. In the series, Uhm Jung-hwa played Bong Chung-ja, a top star who suddenly becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman, while Song Seung-heon portrayed Dok Go-cheol, leading the romantic comedy.
The reunion, ten years after their 2015 film 'Wonderful Nightmare', garnered significant anticipation for their deepened chemistry. Uhm Jung-hwa humorously commented on Song Seung-heon's unchanging appearance, stating, "Song Seung-heon looks almost the same as he did 10 years ago." She particularly praised his fit physique, mentioning a scene where he was shirtless.
Beyond his looks, Uhm Jung-hwa also noted a change in Song Seung-heon's inner self. "His heart seems to have become softer and broader. I felt he became much more approachable when interacting with staff and fellow actors compared to before," she added. While acknowledging Song Seung-heon's playful nature, which sometimes involves teasing, she revealed that working together extensively on this drama allowed her to understand his personality more deeply.
The collaboration was also enjoyable during idea-generating sessions. Uhm Jung-hwa said, "Song Seung-heon's creative ideas were very helpful when we brainstormed for funny scenes." She expressed her hope to "reunite again in another 10 years, hopefully with new aspects to showcase."
Meanwhile, actor Ji Jin-hee made a special appearance in the drama, marking his reunion with Uhm Jung-hwa after 15 years since their KBS drama 'A Man Who Can't Get Married' in 2009. "It was truly wonderful to see him again, and I was surprised at how little he seemed to have changed, as if time had stood still," Uhm Jung-hwa remarked about the reunion.
Uhm Jung-hwa debuted as a singer in 1993 and has since established herself as a versatile entertainer, excelling as an actress, singer, and dancer, becoming a prominent icon of K-culture.
