Actress Uhm Jung-hwa has voiced her significant regret over the conclusion of the Genie TV original drama 'My Star, My Golden Child' after just 12 episodes.

In an interview held at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 23rd, Uhm Jung-hwa shared her thoughts on her role as Bong Chung-ja (Im Se-ra) in the series. 'My Star, My Golden Child' is a romantic comedy that follows the journey of a top South Korean star who overnight becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman. The drama premiered on April 18th and concluded on May 23rd.

As the drama neared its finale, with Bong Chung-ja regaining memories she had forgotten for 25 years and embarking on a path of revenge, viewers expressed their disappointment about the series being too short. Uhm Jung-hwa echoed these sentiments, stating, "12 episodes feels too brief. Time passed by so quickly," conveying her regret about the drama's rapid pacing.

When asked about the possibility of a second season, Uhm Jung-hwa jokingly suggested, "It would be great if that were possible. Perhaps with different titles like 'My Husband, My Golden Child' or 'My Scrap Metal, My Golden Child,'" eliciting laughter.

Speaking before the final episode aired, Uhm Jung-hwa commented on the ending: "I like the idea that villains bring about their own downfall. In the final episode, everyone receives their just deserts in their own way, concluding with a beautiful, happy ending." She added, "I was particularly moved when filming the happy ending scene, especially when it overlapped with scenes featuring the child actors. It was touching and wonderful."

Uhm Jung-hwa debuted as a singer in 1993 and has since built a successful career as an actress. She gained immense popularity as a solo artist with hit songs like 'Invitation' and 'Rose of Betrayal.' Later, she delivered memorable performances in dramas and films such as 'Marriage Is a Crazy Thing,' 'Old Miss Diary,' 'Mama,' and 'Doctor Cha,' proving her enduring appeal and talent in the entertainment industry.
