Uhm Jung-hwa Expresses Support for Niece Uhm Ji-on's Entertainment Aspirations: 'I'll Cheer Her On'

Actress Uhm Jung-hwa shared her deep affection and support for her real-life niece, Uhm Ji-on, during a wrap-up interview for the Genie TV original drama ‘My Star.’

In an interview held on the 23rd in Seoul, Uhm Jung-hwa revealed that she strongly resonated with the storyline of her character, Bong Cheong-ja, who loses her memory and starts anew. She stated, 'It's a part that touches upon the primal fears any star might experience,' adding that she felt she too would want to start over if she found herself in a situation where no one recognized her.

Just as Bong Cheong-ja's niece in the drama, Bong Da-hee, dreams of entering the entertainment industry following her aunt, Uhm Jung-hwa's niece, Uhm Ji-on, is currently preparing for middle school entrance exams in vocal music. Regarding this, Uhm Jung-hwa commented, 'Children these days truly know what they want,' and if Uhm Ji-on dreams of becoming an entertainer, 'I will cheer her on in her efforts to achieve any dream she pursues.' She emphasized that while paths like acting or singing are difficult, they are also very enjoyable, and she fully supports the journey of chasing one's dreams.

During the filming of ‘My Star,’ Uhm Jung-hwa also experienced filming a daily drama and found much enjoyment in the process. Her character Bong Cheong-ja's struggles to reclaim her lost memories and identity delivered a profound resonance to the viewers.
