Comedian Jeon Yu-seong Hospitalized for Pneumothorax, 'Critical Condition Rumors' Debunked
News has emerged that comedian Jeon Yu-seong has been hospitalized and is receiving treatment for pneumothorax. Recent rumors suggesting his condition was critical have been confirmed as false.
Jeon Yu-seong is currently hospitalized due to pneumothorax, experiencing difficulties with breathing freely. He had previously undergone a procedure for a collapsed lung in June but continued to suffer from respiratory issues afterward. His condition recently worsened, leading to his current hospitalization, where he was diagnosed with pneumothorax in both lungs.
An associate stated, "It's impossible to operate when both lungs are compromised. We have to wait for the lung tissue to naturally re-expand and expel the air." The associate added that surgery is not currently feasible.
Regarding the rumors of his critical condition, the associate clarified, "It seems to be a misunderstanding spread by his disciples who were surprised by his hospitalization." They assured that Jeon Yu-seong is conscious and able to communicate, although he cannot hold long conversations due to shortness of breath. Colleagues like Kim Shin-young, Lee Young-ja, and Choi Yang-rak have visited, and he communicates with them briefly, acknowledging their well wishes.
Previously, Jeon Yu-seong had to withdraw from the Busan International Comedy Festival last month due to his health. Born in 1949, the 76-year-old comedian has previously joked about false death reports, but concerns for his health are widespread among fans.
Jeon Yu-seong gained popularity in the late 1970s for his unique comedic style and witty remarks on television shows. He has been a significant influence on younger comedians in the industry. In recent years, he has focused more on his personal life rather than active broadcasting.
