
Former 4minute's Jeon Ji-yoon Breaks Silence on Group's Disbandment: 'Felt Hopeless After Losing Sense of Belonging'
Nine years after their disbandment, former 4minute member Jeon Ji-yoon has opened up about the painful circumstances surrounding the group's split.
A video uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Kwon So-hyun's Ticket Booth' on the 23rd, titled 'Unnie, Why Did You Do That Back Then? | Ji-yoon Unnie's Perspective & Unreleased Dance Video,' featured Jeon Ji-yoon as a guest.
During the interview, Jeon Ji-yoon revealed her current activities as a writer and reflected on the most challenging period of her life, stating, 'The first one or two years after disbandment were the hardest.'
She confessed, 'I completely lost my sense of belonging. Being in a group for several years and then suddenly receiving notice that it was over felt despairing.'
Kwon So-hyun recalled their efforts, adding, 'I remember us driving to the chairman's house at the end. We were turned away, but receiving the disbandment notice before I could even express my thoughts on re-signing felt like the world was collapsing.'
Kwon So-hyun further shared, 'I've never even gone to an ex-boyfriend's house, but the team ended at a moment I didn't anticipate. The emptiness was immense,' she confessed.
4minute debuted under Cube Entertainment in 2009 and officially disbanded in June 2016.
Following 4minute's disbandment, Jeon Ji-yoon has actively pursued diverse career paths, including music, acting, and writing. She has maintained strong friendships with her former group members, occasionally reuniting on screen. Fans continue to show their support for her new ventures and eagerly anticipate her future endeavors.
