Kang Young-seok Reveals Hilarious 'Head Audition' Behind Joining 'First Ride'
Actor Kang Young-seok has shared the amusing behind-the-scenes story of his casting for the upcoming film 'First Ride'.
The production press conference for 'First Ride', held on the 25th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall, was attended by director Nam Dae-jung and lead actors including Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, Kang Young-seok, and Han Sun-hwa.
'First Ride' is a comedy centered around four best friends embarking on their first overseas trip together after 24 years. Kang Young-seok plays the role of Geumbok, a character known for his pure charm, promising to deliver plenty of laughs.
Notably, Kang Young-seok's casting reportedly involved passing an intense 'head audition' against 800 other candidates. He recalled the director asking about any imperfections in his head shape, and after consulting his mother, he proceeded with the audition.
Director Nam Dae-jung playfully explained that while Kang Young-seok's acting prowess was already well-established, his striking head shape and gaze were key factors. He humorously described Kang Young-seok's appearance at the final audition, with a shaved head, as a 'perfect lightbulb,' praising his cute and handsome looks even without hair.
Kang Young-seok debuted in the theater production 'Let the Right One In' in 2017 and has steadily built his acting portfolio. He gained attention for his versatile roles in dramas such as 'Prison Playbook,' 'Big Mouth,' and 'Cafe Minamdang.' His wide acting range fuels anticipation for his future projects.
