Park Ji-hyun Expresses Profound Admiration for Kim Go-eun: 'A Turning Point in My Life, a Blessing to Korea'
Actress Park Ji-hyun has spoken with immense respect for her senior colleague Kim Go-eun, with whom she starred in the Netflix series 'Gyeongseong Creature'.
In a recent interview in Seoul, Park Ji-hyun shared her thoughts on 'Gyeongseong Creature' and her special bond with Kim Go-eun. The drama, which depicts the intertwined lives of two friends, Eun-jung (played by Kim Go-eun) and Sang-yeon (played by Park Ji-hyun), achieved global success, ranking fifth in Netflix's Top 10 non-English TV shows.
Park Ji-hyun described Kim Go-eun as a 'benefactor,' stating, "She is the first person to have such a significant impact on my life." While initially considering the collaboration a 'blessing from heaven,' she realized after filming that she had met someone who could 'change her life,' calling it a 'turning point.'
Although they had previously worked together on the TVING series 'Yumi's Cells,' the deep connection forged in 'Gyeongseong Creature' left a profound impression on Park Ji-hyun. Witnessing Kim Go-eun's performance, she felt, "I can't possibly catch up," and praised Kim Go-eun's very presence as a "blessing to Korea's art scene." She hinted that she considers Kim Go-eun to be 'more than a mentor.'
Park Ji-hyun also mentioned that Kim Go-eun is the only person who has truly accepted and understood her unconditionally. She explained, "While I have a high level of empathy for others, I've always been independent in my decisions because there was no one who fully accepted and understood me." She expressed deep gratitude to Kim Go-eun for her understanding and support.
Known for being a fan of TVXQ, Park Ji-hyun did not hesitate to choose Kim Go-eun when asked to compare her with the group. Unlike her fan-girl excitement for TVXQ as 'oppas' during her school days, she felt that being able to interact and build a close relationship with Kim Go-eun through their work was a great fortune. Park Ji-hyun clearly defined Kim Go-eun as an object of her 'admiration, envy, and respect.'
