Comedian Lee Jin-ho Caught Drunk Driving Over 100km Despite Ongoing Gambling Investigation
The entertainment industry is once again shaken by a drunk driving incident, this time involving comedian Lee Jin-ho.
Lee Jin-ho is currently under investigation for drunk driving, a charge that comes while he is already facing scrutiny for alleged illegal gambling.
Authorities in Gyeonggi Nambu Province revealed on the 24th that Lee Jin-ho was caught driving under the influence, traveling approximately 100km from Incheon to Yangpyeong-gun in Gyeonggi Province in the early hours of the morning.
Police apprehended Lee after receiving a tip about a drunk driver. Investigations revealed that his blood alcohol content was 0.11%, well above the legal limit for license revocation.
His agency, SM C&C, released a statement confirming the incident and stating, "After confirming with the artist, he did indeed drive under the influence early this morning. He has completed the required investigation with the local police and is awaiting further action."
This incident follows Lee Jin-ho's admission of illegal gambling charges last October, which were sent back to the police by the prosecution in April for further investigation. It was previously reported that BTS member Jimin had lent him 100 million KRW, and other celebrities like Lee Soo-geun and Young Tak were also reportedly victims.
Separately, on the 23rd, a male YouTuber in his 30s was arrested for refusing a breathalyzer test, with a history of drunk driving offenses. Netizens suspect the YouTuber to be 'Sanghaegi,' who has since deleted his social media accounts without comment.
Earlier, on the 17th, actor Yoon Ji-on admitted to drunk driving and issued an apology.
Lee Jin-ho has been a prominent figure in Korean comedy, known for his energetic performances on various variety shows. His involvement in this scandal has cast a shadow over his career and disappointed many fans. The legal repercussions and potential career impact of this dual investigation are significant.
