Actor Im Si-wan has revealed the story behind his casting in the upcoming Netflix film, 'The Mongoose.'

At a production press conference held on the 25th at Lotte Cinema in Konkuk University, Seoul, Im Si-wan shared his thoughts on taking on the role of 'The Mongoose,' an elite assassin.

He highlighted the film's connection to the 2023 movie 'Kill Boksoon,' where the character of 'The Mongoose' first appeared. Im Si-wan recalled, 'During the filming of 'Kill Boksoon,' there was a character named 'The Mongoose' in the script's description. Director Byun Sung-hyun saw that description and contacted me directly, asking if I could do a voice appearance for 'The Mongoose.''

Although the voice role didn't materialize at the time, Im Si-wan felt a special connection. He stated, 'From that point on, it felt like the name 'The Mongoose' was bestowed upon me,' adding, 'I felt it was my destiny to be a part of this project from its inception, and I approached the filming with that mindset.' He humorously admitted that upon reading the script, he accepted the challenging action sequences as part of his fated role.

Regarding his approach to the character, Im Si-wan explained, 'Professionally, he might seem like a ruthless killer, but I aimed to portray him as someone with an inner warmth that contrasts with his occupation.' He elaborated, 'Even though he might appear curt and dismissive on the outside, I tried to depict a character who has to conceal his inner warmth due to the nature of his job.'

Im Si-wan, formerly a member of the K-pop group ZE:A, has successfully transitioned into a respected actor. His consistent performances have been recognized across various genres, earning praise for his ability to deeply embody his characters. He gained widespread popularity through numerous hit productions such as 'The Moon Embracing the Sun,' 'Misaeng: Incomplete Life,' and 'Modern Family.'
