Actor Lee Sung-min, who stars in the film 'Drive My Car', has unveiled the story behind a daring rear nude scene in the movie.

In a recent interview, Lee Sung-min shared his thoughts on starring in director Park Chan-wook's latest film, 'Drive My Car'. The movie tells the story of a company employee who, after achieving life satisfaction, faces unemployment and embarks on a difficult journey to secure re-employment.

Lee Sung-min portrays Gu Beom-mo, a rival for re-employment competing with the protagonist Man-su (played by Lee Byung-hun). He delivered a powerful performance, including a revealing rear nude scene, to depict Beom-mo's awakening process after falling into despair due to unemployment.

Regarding the scene, Lee Sung-min humorously stated, "I'll give no comment," before laughing and admitting, "It was me!" He clarified, "It was a scene that was in the original script," explaining, "I understood it as a scene symbolizing Beom-mo's fresh start after hitting rock bottom."

He added with a chuckle, "It wouldn't make sense for Beom-mo to have a good physique in that situation. I didn't build myself up for it." He also mentioned, "The original storyboard even included him walking out after taking off his clothes, but the director decided to end it with him just standing up after removing his clothes."

Having premiered at international film festivals like Venice and Toronto, Lee Sung-min expressed surprise at the lack of reaction to his nude scene overseas, saying, "There was no reaction abroad." He also discussed his efforts to embody the character of Gu Beom-mo, describing how he made his hair look sparse and disheveled to reflect the character's otaku-like image.

Discussing his preparation process, Lee Sung-min revealed, "For any film or drama, I tend to mumble to myself while reading the script at home." He continued, "It's become a habit to mentally simulate the scenes I'll be shooting the next day even as I'm about to fall asleep. It's an unconscious habit that has developed over time, becoming more pronounced as I get older. I feel it helps me absorb the material better for the following day, and it was the same for this project."

Lee Sung-min made his acting debut in 1988 with the play 'Our Twisted Hero'. He has since established himself as a 'must-watch actor' by showcasing a wide range of acting skills in various films and dramas. He recently garnered significant praise for his role as Chairman Jin Yang-cheol in the tvN drama 'Reborn Rich'.
