Kim Jong-kook Reveals Secret to Happy Newlywed Life: 'Hands-Off Approach' to Wife

Singer Kim Jong-kook has opened up about his newlywed life, sharing his unique approach to marital harmony.

On the recent episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Problem Child in House’ (Okmoon-a), guest Eugene, a seasoned wife of 15 years, offered advice to Kim Jong-kook, who recently tied the knot.

Eugene shared, “We fought a lot in our first six months of marriage. Living together means bumping into each other over trivial things. It’s important not to try to change each other, but to acknowledge, ‘This person is different from me.’ ”

In response, Kim Jong-kook confessed, “I truly don’t interfere with my wife at all.” When Joo Woo-jae pressed him about physical affection, Kim Jong-kook added, “I genuinely let her do as she pleases to be happy.” This led Joo Woo-jae to humorously remark, “Is that based on the condition that she doesn’t interfere with your workouts?” sparking laughter.

Yang Se-chan inquired if he even monitored the number of wet wipes used. Kim Jong-kook replied, “I don’t. The important thing is, because I know that, she herself refrains from using too many. She’s considerate without me even asking,” astonishing everyone.

When Kim Sook asked if his wife felt pressured by him, Kim Jong-kook recounted, “I was just watching her beautifully doing the dishes, and she asked, ‘Am I turning the water on too strong?’ I was just looking at her fondly,” he revealed, bursting into laughter.

Kim Jong-kook, who kept his wedding private, also touched upon his wife’s appearance. When Kim Sook asked if she was a fitness enthusiast, he stated, “Not really,” but added, “She has a slender build.” Yang Se-chan chimed in, “Slender, with square shoulders and tall,” drawing attention.

Kim Jong-kook announced his marriage on October 26, 2023, receiving widespread congratulations. His wife is known to be a civilian whose profession has not been disclosed. In past broadcasts, Kim Jong-kook has spoken about his relationship style, emphasizing his considerate approach towards his partner.
