The passing of comedy pioneer Jeon Yu-seong has brought renewed attention to his final words of wisdom and the warm relationships he fostered, deeply touching colleagues and fans alike.

Jeon Yu-seong last appeared publicly on October 20th of last year, officiating the wedding of comedian Jo Se-ho and model Jung Soo-ji. Always cherishing his juniors and protégés, he offered his signature humor and heartfelt advice during the ceremony. Tragically, just over three months later, his condition worsened due to pneumothorax, and he passed away on the 25th at 9:05 PM at Jeonbuk National University Hospital, at the age of 76.

Jo Se-ho took to social media on the 26th to express his profound grief. "I was happy and grateful to have been your junior, your student," he wrote. "During times of much worry about my career, your words, 'It's one of two things, do it or don't… just do it,' still echo in my heart. Your voice saying 'Take care…' goodbye is still vivid in my ears," he shared with tearful emotion.

Jeon Yu-seong had previously spoken fondly of Jo Se-ho, remarking, "He was a kid who, from his debut, wasn't intimidated and talked back well. Ultimately, kids like that become stars." He had also offered him a unique piece of advice: "Earn a lot of money and buy buildings. But if you buy buildings, you become a landlord. Build a theater and nurture your juniors. Set up a 'Jo Se-ho Theater' on the first floor," a remark that brought both laughter and deep emotion.

Beyond mentoring numerous comedians, including Paeng Hyun-sook, Kim Shin-young, and Jo Se-ho, the late Jeon Yu-seong also discovered singer Kim Hyun-sik and actress Han Chae-young. His keen insight and affection left an indelible mark on Korean comedy and popular culture.

Netizens have continued to share their condolences, commenting, "I never knew the connection of him being Se-ho's mentor and officiant would hit so hard," "The advice to build a theater and nurture juniors was truly the teaching of a great elder," and "His humor and philosophy will be remembered forever. We express our deepest condolences."

The funeral parlor is located at Room 1, Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall in Seoul, with the procession scheduled for 8:00 AM on the 28th.

Jeon Yu-seong began his career in the 1970s and became a monumental figure in the Korean entertainment industry, particularly in comedy. He was not only a mentor to many rising stars but also actively involved in planning and directing various variety shows, showcasing his multifaceted talent. His guidance, often a blend of sharp criticism and warm encouragement, inspired countless junior entertainers.
