The entertainment industry is united in mourning the loss of the late comedy legend Jeon Yu-seong, with a steady stream of visitors paying their respects at his wake.

Located at Room 1 of the Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall in Seoul, the wake saw a continuous flow of mourners from early morning on the 26th. His daughter, Ms. Je-bi, and grandchildren were present, keeping vigil for the departed.

Notably, a wreath from his former partner, singer Jin Mi-ryeong, drew attention. Though their common-law marriage, which began in 1993, ended in separation in 2011, Jin Mi-ryeong sent a floral tribute with the message, "Deepest condolences on your passing," offering a poignant farewell.

Fellow comedians also expressed their grief. "National MC" Yoo Jae-suk stayed for over an hour and a half, comforting the bereaved family. Kim Jun-ho, Kim Ji-min, and numerous other seniors and juniors from the comedy scene attended to bid their final goodbyes.

Comedienne Park Mi-sun, who recently faced health concerns, also sent a condolence wreath. This act gained further poignancy given her past visit to Jeon Yu-seong, where she shared a photo expressing worry about his health. Despite her own ongoing treatment for what is reported to be early-stage breast cancer, her tribute to a respected senior touched netizens, who sent messages of support for her recovery.

Jeon Yu-seong was a multifaceted figure, not just a comedian but also a broadcast writer, performance planner, and film director, credited with shaping the landscape of Korean comedy. He popularized the term 'comedian' and nurtured countless junior talents, earning him the title of a godfather in the field. His wake, established after his passing at age 76 on the 25th due to worsening pleurisy, continues to see mourners.

Jeon Yu-seong began his broadcasting career in the 1970s, and his unique humor and directing skills profoundly influenced many junior comedians. He captivated audiences by planning and directing comedy shows. Furthermore, he contributed to the development of Korean popular culture through diverse activities across arts and culture.
