IVE's Liz Charms with 80s Nostalgia on 'Hangout with Yoo'

IVE member Liz transported viewers back to the 1980s on MBC's variety show 'Hangout with Yoo', appearing for the '80s Seoul Music Festival' special.

During the broadcast on the 27th, Liz donned a pure white mini-dress, exuding a lovely aura. Her retro yet sophisticated look was amplified by blue eyeshadow and pearl accessories, evoking a strong sense of nostalgia.

Performing Lee Ji-yeon's hit song 'Stop the Wind', Liz flawlessly embodied the charm of an 80s teen star. Her bright smile, direct eye contact with the audience, and simple yet captivating choreography made for a memorable stage.

Liz's clear and pure voice added a lyrical depth to the song, while her powerful high notes and dynamic vocal control effectively conveyed complex emotions of love, heightening the audience's immersion.

Following her performance, MC Kim Hee-ae praised Liz's successful rendition of the challenging song, with Yoo Jae-suk remarking, "I truly thought Lee Ji-yeon had arrived." Yoon Do-hyun further lauded her, stating, "Liz did the best. It was almost a perfect reenactment."

In a subsequent interview, Liz shared, "I was nervous performing alone without dancers or actors, but I tried my best by utilizing my idol experience." She also revealed the encouraging words from her IVE bandmates: "Do well tomorrow," and "Go and let the world hear your beautiful voice."

Director Jang Hang-jun, a judge, commented, "I found myself singing along without realizing it; it was a stage that brought back old memories," adding to the praise for Liz's performance.

The song 'Stop the Wind' by Liz is now available on various music platforms as part of the '80s MBC Seoul Music Festival Final Side A' album, offering a different charm from her live stage. Meanwhile, IVE is set to kick off their second world tour, 'IVE WORLD TOUR 'SHOW WHAT I AM')', at KSPO DOME in Seoul from October 31st to November 2nd.

Born in 2004, Liz serves as the main vocalist and lead dancer for the popular girl group IVE. She is widely loved for her clear and refreshing vocal tone, captivating audiences with her expressive stage presence and performances. In 2022, she also showcased her solo vocal capabilities by singing 'Starlight', an OST for the KBS drama 'Alchemy of Souls'.
