MC Mong and Lee Da-in Clash Over Old Photo, Lee Seung-gi Caught in the Middle

A heated exchange has erupted between K-pop artist MC Mong and actress Lee Da-in after MC Mong shared an old photo on his social media, placing Lee Da-in's husband, multi-talented star Lee Seung-gi, in an awkward predicament. On the 4th, MC Mong posted a picture featuring Lee Seung-gi, Lee Da-in, Lee Yoo-bi, and Piaq Group Chairman Cha Ga-won. This post marked MC Mong's first update in a while, following his announcement in July that he would temporarily step back from producer duties due to severe depression and health issues, intending to study abroad.

However, Lee Da-in quickly reposted the image, expressing her discomfort: "Why would you intentionally upload a photo that's over a year old now and stir up trouble?" She further stated that the photo was taken on July 18, 2024, emphasizing her confusion regarding MC Mong's intentions. Her frustration reportedly stems from Lee Seung-gi's public declaration earlier this year to cut ties with his in-laws (Lee Da-in's family) due to a controversy involving her father. Lee Da-in, who had agreed to this decision and focused on childcare, apparently fears that the old photo, which includes estranged family members, could lead to questions about her sincerity.

MC Mong did not back down, responding sharply with, "Mind your own business!" He added, "Whether I upload a photo from a year ago or a picture I liked, before you get to hate me more, would I abandon my family like you did?" explicitly referencing the couple's decision to sever ties with her family. This escalating dispute leaves Lee Seung-gi, who has a long-standing friendship with MC Mong dating back to '1 Night 2 Days' and their current agency connection, in an unenviable position, caught between his wife and his close senior artist.

Lee Seung-gi is a highly respected South Korean entertainer, renowned for his versatile career as a singer, actor, and host since his debut in 2004. He married actress Lee Da-in in 2023, a wedding that garnered significant public attention. Beyond his artistic endeavors, he has also faced and navigated challenges, including a widely publicized contract dispute with his former agency.
