Musical actress Ock Joo-hyun has opened up about past financial struggles, revealing that a period of heavy debt was more challenging than the notorious 'Ok-Jang-Pan' controversy.

Appearing on Channel A's 'Four-Person Table' on the 8th, Ock Joo-hyun confessed that following a business failure at age 27, she was overwhelmed by debt to the point of contemplating extreme measures. The 20-year veteran of the musical stage described her early career as a "long tunnel filled with debt" and a "hellish period."

The conversation also touched upon the 'Ok-Jang-Pan' incident, a casting controversy surrounding the musical 'Elizabeth' three years ago. Ock Joo-hyun clarified her relationship with junior actress Lee Ji-hye during that time, stating, "After the controversy, we didn't contact each other for our own sakes. Because we weren't okay." She explained her actions as a senior artist guiding Lee Ji-hye to learn and perform well, noting that Lee Ji-hye was unanimously cast as the lead after thorough preparation.

Despite these adversities, Ock Joo-hyun views her difficult past as a "driving force to live even more diligently." She believes that "effort and skill" were the keys to overcoming doubts and frequently reassures herself by saying, "You're doing well."
