Yeon Woo-jin Transforms into a 'Manly Man' Before Seafood, Surprising Co-stars
The 'Prince of the Sea', Yeon Woo-jin, is set to unleash his hidden 'tough guy' charm and surprisingly muscular physique in front of seafood. The Channel S and SK Broadband co-produced show 'Hobbling Foodie Generals' (tentative title) will reveal a chaotic culinary journey in Itoshima, a romantic resort area near Fukuoka, Japan, airing today (18th) at 9:20 PM.
Itoshima is famous for its quaint Japanese small-town atmosphere, emerald sea guaranteeing picturesque photos, and fresh seafood dishes. Here, Kwon Yul, Yeon Woo-jin, and Lee Jung-shin head to a seafood specialty restaurant highly recommended by locals.
Unexpectedly, Yeon Woo-jin, usually calm and shy, undergoes a dramatic transformation upon the appearance of grilled seafood. Declaring, 'Clams are good to eat once they open,' he displays the dignity of someone from the 'city of the sea', Gangneung. He then stands up with a 'super serious mode' to grill the seafood himself, showcasing his masculine side.
When Kwon Yul offers him food, Yeon Woo-jin cleverly uses a clam shell as a plate, saying, 'Pros receive it here.' Witnessing this, Kwon Yul probes his seafood expertise by asking, 'Do you have some memories of Eulwangni?' Lee Jung-shin joins in, imitating Yeon Woo-jin's sudden energy, 'Your range of motion was 50cm when eating yakiniku, but when seafood came out, you stood up and...' eliciting laughter.
When Lee Jung-shin asks, 'Aren't you a man of the sea, hyung?', Yeon Woo-jin strongly denies it, saying, 'I'm a tremendous city guy. I read books, I was shy...' However, he immediately surprises everyone with a 'macho explosion' performance, confidently handling a hot, giant conch. Kwon Yul exclaims, 'Look at those forearm muscles shelling clams!', and Lee Jung-shin offers his utmost respect, saying, 'We can fully trust hyung with seafood.'
Meanwhile, the trio encounters an unexpected figure while visiting a trendy spot popular with Japan's MZ generation. Kwon Yul comments, 'The staff member is handsome,' and Lee Jung-shin marvels, 'He resembles Japanese top actor Shun Oguri.' However, the staff member's response plunges the three into even greater shock. Kwon Yul repeatedly expresses concern, 'Will it be okay for the broadcast to go out like that?' The episode, featuring the shocking reveal of the 'Shun Oguri look-alike' staff member and his captivating dishes, will air on Channel S's 'Hobbling Foodie Generals' this Thursday, September 18th, at 9:20 PM.
Yeon Woo-jin made his acting debut in 2010 with the film 'No Mercy' and has since built a diverse filmography. He is known for his versatile roles in dramas such as 'A Gentleman's Dignity', 'Marriage, Not Dating', 'Fight for My Way', and 'Thirty-Nine'. Most recently, he received critical acclaim for his nuanced performance in the drama 'Agency'.
