Veteran singer Tae Jin-ah has shared his heartfelt feelings of apology and deep affection towards his wife, who has been battling dementia.

Appearing as a guest on the TV CHOSUN show 'Bae-k-ban with Huh Young-man' on the 21st, Tae Jin-ah spoke candidly about the difficult journey his wife has been enduring.

While embarking on a culinary tour in Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province with Huh Young-man, Tae Jin-ah's thoughts often turned to his wife, revealing a complex mix of emotions.

"My wife has been suffering from dementia for six years. It's truly the worst disease in the world," he confessed. Having previously shared his wife's condition on other broadcasts, Tae Jin-ah recalled the pain of times when his wife couldn't even recognize him.

To help his wife remember him, Tae Jin-ah has placed photos throughout their home and holds her hand gently while they sleep, showcasing his devotion. "She needs me by her side all day. She doesn't like it if I hold her hand too tightly, so I have to hold it gently," he explained, touching the hearts of viewers with his meticulous care.

Adding to the emotional weight, Tae Jin-ah revealed that to prevent accidents, he ties his hand to his wife's with a string while they sleep. This measure was taken after a past incident where his wife fell and fractured her arm, highlighting his constant concern for her safety.

However, Tae Jin-ah also shared a glimmer of hope. He reported that his wife's condition, which was most severe two years ago, has stabilized in the last six months thanks to the support she's received, and her cognitive function is showing signs of improvement. "I am so grateful. She has gotten much better," he said with a smile.

Tae Jin-ah, born in 1953 under the name Jo Bang-heon, debuted in 1972 with the hit song 'Last Train to Dongdaemun'. He is often called the 'Prince of Trot' and has released numerous popular songs. His hits like 'Ok Gyeong-i', 'Jin Jin Ja Ra', and 'Love Kaz' have earned him widespread recognition and solidified his status as a beloved national singer.
