'I Am Solo' MCs Explode at Contestant Young-chul's 'Do as I Say, Not as I Do' Attitude

On the latest episode of SBS Plus and ENA's dating reality show 'I Am Solo,' broadcast on the 17th, contestant Young-chul's self-contradictory behavior sparked outrage from hosts Defconn and Song Hae-na.

During the 232nd episode, which featured the third day of the 29th season's participants, Young-chul approached Hyun-sook, complimenting her bag. After Hyun-sook joked it was a million-dollar bag before revealing it was much cheaper, Young-chul remarked to others that he found her bag to be handmade and simple, implying he preferred it over branded luxury items like 'Chanel' or 'Gucci,' which he suggested other female contestants were fixated on.

When asked by fellow contestant Young-soo if frugality was important, Young-chul readily agreed. However, the hosts posed a hypothetical scenario: 'What if your girlfriend asked you to quit smoking?' Young-chul firmly declared, 'I can't quit.' This hypocrisy led MCs Defconn and Song Hae-na to criticize him sharply, calling his behavior a classic case of 'Do as I say, not as I do' (naeronambul).

Young-chul further defended his smoking habit by stating he would quit only when preparing for a child but might resume if the child caused trouble, a remark that baffled viewers and hosts alike. 'I Am Solo' airs every Wednesday at 10:30 PM KST.
