Lee Seung-hwan Announces Sudden Retirement from Performing After 35 Years
Singer Lee Seung-hwan has unexpectedly announced the end of his 35-year performing career. On the 13th, Lee shared on his social media, "After finishing a performance and returning home, I prepare for another one. I've lived like this for 35 years. I will live like this only until November."
This announcement follows his previous statement on the 1st regarding the Lee Seung-hwan Band concluding their activities in November, indicating this was a long-considered decision. Fans have reacted with disbelief and regret, expressing sentiments like, "I can't believe it" and "It's so disappointing."
Furthermore, Lee Seung-hwan's charity concert series, 'Live Honestly', which he initiated and ran for 20 years, concluded its 20th run last October. The concert, which began in 2001, donated all proceeds to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation, supporting treatments, psychological counseling, and social programs for children with cancer. Through this initiative, Lee Seung-hwan raised over 1.3 billion KRW in donations.
Known affectionately as the 'Little Prince' of the Korean music scene, Lee Seung-hwan has been a beloved artist for decades. His music often carries messages of hope and comfort, resonating deeply with his audience. The decision to step back from performing is reportedly to pursue personal rest and explore new avenues.
