Actor Park Jung-min has shared his candid thoughts on operating his independent publishing company, 'Muje'.

In an interview conducted on the 15th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, for the film 'Face', Park Jung-min discussed his publishing endeavors. He has been running 'Muje' while taking a year-long break from acting for personal recharge.

Addressing the potential concerns about a celebrity-run publishing house, Park Jung-min stated, "I am very cautious about it. It's something I constantly discuss with senior publishers." He added, "Many offer encouragement. Few tell me, 'You need to be careful because you're famous.'" He acknowledged the expectation that his fame might lead to success, noting, "I'm aware of the reaction that things might go well because the CEO is famous. That's why I could appear on 'You Quiz on the Block' and YouTube."

However, he emphasized, "I do not operate in a way that overturns what existing publishers do. I don't take the approach of 'Because I'm Park Jung-min, do this for me.' When it comes to collaborations with bookstores or other publishing houses, I act just like any other publisher."

Park Jung-min explained, "It seems many people recognize that I'm not taking shortcuts and am doing things properly. While we do undertake unique projects, like creating audiobooks with actors, we haven't earned substantial profits due to the niche market. We believe in the authenticity of the books and try to refrain from excessive profit-seeking. I will continue to work hard so that more people can view our efforts favorably."

When asked about the company's profitability, he confirmed, "We have achieved profitability." He elaborated, "Although we spent a lot on promotions and other aspects relative to sales, we haven't made astronomical profits. However, it's enough to hire another employee and invest more in books, allowing us to pursue projects comfortably for the next one to two years."

Regarding the company's direction, he added, "We aim to be as ethical a company as possible. We want to create ethical books. We want to delve deeper into overlooked stories and bring them to light. If a book is made by someone with public recognition, I believe the right direction is to amplify smaller voices."

Park Jung-min made his acting debut in the 2006 film 'A Cruel Opportunity' and has since built a versatile filmography. He has received critical acclaim for his diverse roles in various films and television series. His commitment extends to the independent film scene, where he has consistently contributed.
