Park Jung-min Opens Up About His Dual Role in 'The Face': 'I Thought of My Father While Acting'
Actor Park Jung-min shared behind-the-scenes stories about playing dual roles in the film 'The Face.'
'The Face' tells the story of Im Dong-hwan (played by Park Jung-min), the son of Im Young-gyu (played by Kwon Hae-hyo and Park Jung-min), a visually impaired artisan, as he uncovers the truth behind his mother's disappearance after her skeletal remains are found.
Reflecting on being offered the dual role of son and young father, Park Jung-min stated, "I thought it would be effective." He added, "Initially, I wanted to play the young father and asked if an actor had been cast for that role. The director then suggested the dual role."
Regarding his preparation process, he explained, "Due to the limited preparation time, I tried to capture a similar feeling. For the son's role, I approached it as human Park Jung-min, incorporating personal aspects. For the father's role, I relied on the atmosphere, with assistance from costumes, lenses, and art direction."
Park Jung-min, whose father lost his sight in an accident, confessed, "While preparing for the father's role, it was heartbreaking to think that no matter how hard I tried, my father couldn't see this performance." He continued, "It became an opportunity to reflect on my father's life once again."
Park Jung-min has established himself as a reliable actor in Korean cinema, showcasing a wide acting spectrum in various projects since his debut. Beyond acting, he has gained popular appeal through his witty appearances on variety shows. He is also reportedly exploring directing and preparing for future projects.
