Actor Cha Tae-hyun is set to make his comeback to the small screen after approximately two years.

He has been confirmed to star as the lead taxi driver in the highly anticipated global co-production project, the new drama 'Personal Taxi.'

On the 15th, production companies Big in Square and Studio Flow announced the finalized casting for 'Personal Taxi,' based on a webtoon. Alongside Cha Tae-hyun, a star-studded lineup including Lee Jae-in, Lim Se-mi, Hyun Bong-sik, Lee Yeon-hee, Kim Do-hyun, Mimi, Joo Jong-hyuk, Ye Ji-won, Ahn Ji-ho, Im Ha-ryong, and Ye Soo-jung has been revealed.

This marks Cha Tae-hyun's return to acting after about two years, following his appearance in Disney+'s 'Moving.' In the drama, he will take the wheel of a peculiar taxi that only picks up pre-booked passengers. Viewers can anticipate him portraying the unique stories of ordinary passengers through his signature comedic and heartwarming acting style.

The production boasts the involvement of director Jeon Chang-geun, known for 'The Master of Revenge' and 'Delayed Burial,' and music director Park Sung-il, who previously worked on the OSTs for 'Itaewon Class' and 'My Mister.' Co-produced with Japan's Fuji TV, the series aims for expansion not only in Korea but also across Asian, North American, and European markets.

With Cha Tae-hyun's return and a stellar cast, 'Personal Taxi' is emerging as one of the most anticipated projects of 2026, with filming scheduled to commence this September.

Cha Tae-hyun cemented his status as a leading actor in Chungmuro by winning both a Newcomer Award and a Best Actor Award for 'My Sassy Girl.' He has showcased his unique presence in comedy through numerous hit films like 'Scandal Makers' and 'Sunny.' Furthermore, he has demonstrated his versatility as an all-around entertainer through variety shows such as '2 Days & 1 Night' and 'New Journey to the West.'
