Seo Jang-hoon Expresses Frustration with 'Too Much Talker' on 'Ask Us Anything'
On the latest episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Us Anything' (also known as 'What Do You Want to Ask?), host Seo Jang-hoon found himself struggling with a guest who couldn't stop talking. The participant, who identified as a 'too much talker,' shared his journey from introversion to an insatiable need to converse.
He explained that he used to be introverted but began practicing by striking up conversations with strangers on the street. This led to him developing a more outgoing personality. He met his wife through a blind date, and while his talkative nature was initially appealing, it has now become a point of contention in their marriage.
The guest elaborated that his wife and son are naturally more inclined towards the 'T' (Thinking) personality type, while he identifies more with 'F' (Feeling). He expressed a desire to talk from the moment he wakes up, but his family prefers brief, to-the-point conversations.
Co-host Lee Soo-geun humorously suggested it might be his wife going through menopause, but Seo Jang-hoon voiced his concern, stating that constant, unengaging talk can feel like torture if there isn't a compelling reason. The production team even revealed a tip from a writer who felt overwhelmed by the guest's excessive talking, prompting Lee Soo-geun to jokingly offer the writer a 'contribution award.'
When the guest's wife joined via phone, she candidly admitted, 'He talks too much, but it's not interesting.' She confessed that while his chattiness was charming during their dating days, it has become a different issue in their marriage, echoing the common sentiment that couples often break up for reasons that led them to get together.
Seo Jang-hoon observed that the wife's calm tone seemed to carry an underlying frustration. After the call, he advised the guest, 'You seem to be pushing people away. Your family accepts you, but wouldn't they get annoyed if you keep demanding their attention?' Lee Soo-geun added that actions, not just words, are important.
Throughout the discussion, the guest repeatedly interrupted Seo Jang-hoon, eager to speak. This prompted Seo Jang-hoon to remark, 'It's not like you have a ghost of someone who died from not talking possessing you. You're twisting your body like a squid,' highlighting his exasperation.
Seo Jang-hoon, born in 1974, is a former professional basketball player from South Korea who has transitioned into a beloved television personality. After retiring from the sport in 2013, he has gained widespread recognition for his straightforward and honest commentary on various variety shows.
