Chung Won-kwan of Sobangcha Recalls Late NRG Member Kim Hwan-seong with Tears

Singer Chung Won-kwan tearfully remembered the late Kim Hwan-seong, a former member of the group NRG.

On the 16th, a video titled 'Singer Chung Won-kwan Episode 5 (G-Cafe, which we thought would finally hit #1)' was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life'. During the broadcast, Song Seung-hwan mentioned Chung Won-kwan's time creating NRG and serving as CEO of PD Cho's company.

Chung Won-kwan revealed that about 20 comedians were affiliated with his company at the time, including popular figures like Jung Sun-hee, Kim Jin-soo, Go Myung-hwan, Moon Chun-sik, and Son Heon-soo. He reminisced about his past, mentioning his activities with the pre-NRG group 'Hamo Hamo' in the early 2000s.

He then stated that he went independent after promoting with NRG up to their second album. It was then he recalled the tragic incident where one of the NRG members, the late Kim Hwan-seong, suddenly passed away after the release of their first album.

Chung Won-kwan explained that Kim Hwan-seong died suddenly from sepsis. "He had a cold, but after getting a wisdom tooth extracted, an infection set in, and he died suddenly within three days," he shared, expressing the shock and grief of that time. He added that he took a break from entertainment for a while after Kim Hwan-seong's sudden death.

Chung Won-kwan debuted as a member of the 1980s group Sobangcha, achieving significant popularity. During his time with NRG, he was also actively involved as a producer, contributing to the debut of many junior entertainers. He is currently sharing his recent life and past stories with fans through the 'Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life' channel.
