Han Hyo-joo Joins Busan Film Festival as Jury Member for New Competition Section
Acclaimed actress Han Hyo-joo has shared her thoughts on serving as a jury member for the newly established competition section at the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
During a press conference held at the Busan Cinema Center on the 18th, Han Hyo-joo joined jury president Na Hong-jin, along with esteemed international filmmakers like Aaron Kwok, Nandita Das, Marziyeh Meshkini, Kogonada, and Yosep Anggi Noen, to mark the occasion.
As one of the youngest jurors in this inaugural competition section, Han expressed her commitment to offering a fresh, youthful perspective for a fair evaluation. "I've loved movies since I was young, watching several in a single day," she shared, highlighting her deep passion for cinema.
Recalling her first time at the Busan Cinema Center for the opening film 'Always' ('Ojik Geudaeman'), Han described it as a cherished memory. "It's a great honor to participate as a juror in a festival I've always admired," she stated. However, she also candidly admitted, "The pressure is immense. It's so daunting I almost wanted to run away, but I'll do my best alongside these wonderful jurors," she added with a smile.
The 30th BIFF aims to elevate Asian cinema by introducing its competitive section, where the 'Busan Award' will honor winners across five categories. The trophies are designed by renowned Thai director and artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
Han Hyo-joo, who debuted in the 2004 drama 'Nonstop 5', has solidified her acting prowess through numerous hit projects including 'Dong Yi', 'W', and 'Moving'. Beyond her dramatic roles, she has captivated audiences with her versatile charm, notably in the film 'The Beauty Inside'. She is set to further showcase her acting range in the upcoming film 'The Moonlit Hour' and the Disney+ original series 'Super Strike'.
