Lee Dae-ho Reflects on Lavish Beef Dinner: 'I Treated My Juniors to Celebrate Their Victory'
Former baseball star Lee Dae-ho has opened up about the surprising story behind a now-famous, extravagant beef dinner he hosted.
In a video uploaded on October 20th to his YouTube channel, 'Lee Dae-ho [RE:DAEHO]', titled 'Changes in the Baseball World After the Beef Dinner... (feat. Busan Full Course)', he discussed the event.
During the broadcast, Lee Dae-ho went on a culinary tour of Busan with caster Heo Hyeong-beom. Heo Hyeong-beom brought up the sensational news of the celebratory dinner after the Kyungnam High School's Presidential Cup victory, asking, 'Did Lee Dae-ho really pay for it all?'
Lee Dae-ho responded, 'Many people asked about it. I genuinely went to treat my juniors. They achieved a dream that even our seniors found difficult, and I was so proud of them that I wanted to buy them a meal,' he confessed.
He chuckled, adding, 'I never imagined it would become such a big issue.' Heo Hyeong-beom emphasized the scale of the event, noting, 'News broke that Lee Dae-ho paid for 240 servings of beef, not pork,' a total bill of 12.78 million KRW.
Lee Dae-ho further explained his philosophy: 'My rule is to treat everyone to something delicious when they win. It was an expensive place, one I don't visit often myself, but I really wanted to take them there this time,' showcasing his generous senior spirit.
Netizens who watched the video reacted with admiration, commenting, 'Dae-ho, spending money so coolly,' and 'Casually swiping a card for 12 million won isn't something just anyone can do.'
Lee Dae-ho is widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in Korean professional baseball history. His power and consistency during his playing career left a lasting impression on fans. Even after retirement, he remains active, engaging with the public through television and YouTube, continuing to show his passion for baseball.
