Kim Yun-a (Jaurim) felt like her music career was on the brink after a health crisis
Kim Yun-a, the vocalist of the iconic band Jaurim, revealed her deep commitment to music following a severe health crisis.
Appearing on the KBS 2TV show 'The Seasons – 10CM's Hug Hug' on the 14th, Kim Yun-a introduced Jaurim's 12th full-length album, released on the 9th. She shared, "My health took a turn, and I faced a crossroads, unsure if I could continue making music. Since life is unpredictable, I felt a calling to give my all, thinking this might be my last chance."
She explained that she intensified her work ethic, driven by the mindset of "giving maximum effort," to complete the album.
Previously, Kim Yun-a had revealed that she was born with a congenital immunodeficiency, requiring monthly intravenous treatments. Following a period of intense work, she developed cranial nerve paralysis, affecting her facial movements, sense of taste, smell, hearing, and the vagus nerve. Although residual effects remain, she has continued her activities, enhancing the completeness of Jaurim's signature sound, she stated.
Kwon Jeong-yeol of 10CM expressed his support, saying, "Usually, people choose to slow down and reorganize their lives after health issues, but we are grateful that you chose a path of deeper dedication to music."
Jaurim has announced upcoming concerts in Seoul at the end of the year and in Busan at the beginning of the new year, continuing to showcase their new album.
There is significant anticipation to see how the 12th album, which Kim Yun-a created with intense focus on sound, lyrics, and arrangement after confronting cranial nerve paralysis head-on, will resonate on stage.
Korean netizens expressed immense support and admiration for Kim Yun-a's resilience. Many commented, "Her dedication is truly inspiring!" and "We're so glad she's back and stronger than ever. Jaurim's music means so much to us."
