Hollywood action star Milla Jovovich is set to attend the world premiere of her latest film, 'The Protector,' at the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

The movie has been selected for the 'Midnight Passion' section, and both Jovovich and director Adrian Gunberg are expected to meet with the Korean audience. This marks Jovovich's first visit to Korea in eight years, a significant event given her well-documented affection for Korean culture.

Director Adrian Gunberg, acclaimed for 'Rambo: Last Blood,' will be making his first trip to Korea. He plans to share insights into the film's production process and artistic intentions. The duo will participate in a stage greeting on October 19th at the Busan Cinema Center's outdoor stage, followed by a Q&A session on October 20th after the IMAX screening at CGV Centum City.

'The Protector' follows a former special forces agent on a desperate 72-hour mission to rescue her kidnapped daughter. The film features intense action sequences driven by Jovovich's character. Notably, the role of the kidnapped daughter is played by Isabela Merced, the sister of Jenna Ortega, who gained fame for her role in the recent hit series 'Wednesday.'

This project is particularly significant as it's the first Hollywood production made in collaboration with Korean production companies and investors, signaling new potential for K-content. The film also boasts involvement from the production team behind the 'John Wick' series and has already secured international distribution deals in 80 countries, including sales to major platforms like Amazon and Netflix. Following its BIFF premiere, 'The Protector' is slated for a theatrical release in the latter half of 2025.

Milla Jovovich has previously visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and expressed considerable interest in Korean culture.

She has also shared her experiences teaching her daughter Taekwondo, further highlighting her personal connection to Korea.

Her return to Korea after an eight-year hiatus is anticipated with great excitement by her fans and the local entertainment industry.
